EWO Membership Registration 2011-2012
As the voice of post-secondary co-operative education in Ontario, the Education at Work Ontario (EWO) Executive had a busy year, and the following are some of the highlights from 2010/2011:
1. Launch of new website
2. Acknowledgment of co-op during National Co-op Week at the Legislative Assembly and promotion of the EWO and CAFCE and mention of the EWO website link.
3. Lobbying for changes to the Employment Standards Act for co-op students - the Government Relations committee and UW's Student Federation VP's are meeting with the Ministry of Labour tomorrow at Queen's Park
4. Working with the Ontario Public Service to promote the hiring of co-op students in numerous departments - this has led to a project that we need volunteers to help with - the OPS would like EWO to create a summary of learning outcomes by program area and level to help OPS managers target the correct group of co-op students to ensure the students are benefiting from a learning environment.
5. EWO Biennial Conference

The board will discuss whether there is a need for fees to be collected for 2012/2013 year at the EWO AGM on June 1, 2011, at the biennial Conference at Ryerson ILC. I hope we will see you there.
