National Co-op Week in Canada takes place March 16 - 20, celebrating co-operative education, student achievements and work integrated learning.
Currently in Canada, there are more than 80,000 co-op students. All across Canada, these students are seeking valuable on-the-job experiences in order to learn, earn and integrate themselves into the workforce. Co-operative education has allowed students to further develop their skills with hands-on learning and has allowed employers to mentor industry prospects and receive exceptional temporary employees.
The Canadian Association for Co-operative Education (CAFCE) encourages students, employers and post-secondary institutions to recognize National Co-op Week by celebrating student achievements, offering Co-op Student of the Year awards, highlighting co-op opportunities, sharing co-op stories, etc. Be creative – come up with a way to celebrate co-operative education at your college or university and share it with others!
Here are some ideas to consider: co-op student/employer feature stories, co-operative education surveys/polls, contests, interviews, presentation with guest speakers, etc.
Check out the Canadian Association for Co-operative Education’s website http://www.cafce.ca/co-op-week.html for more co-op week information and contest details.
*Note: CAFCE will be hosting social media #Co-opWeek contests for students during National Co-op Week (March 16 -20) – Check them out!
