Dear EWO Members: We know that everyone is quite busy as we begin to work toward our summer term. The economy is still in recovery at a snail’s pace for many companies and there are budget constraints which will impact hiring. These constraints are also within our institutions which has forced us, your EWO board, to make some hard decisions.
You will recall we sent out a message about our annual retreat to determine whether we would have sufficient numbers before our contract with Kempenfelt had locked us in. The results were not as hoped and not wanting to place EWO in any penalty situation we made the decision to cancel the event.
This cancellation does not preclude us from having an AGM under our by-laws so we are currently investigating an alternative arrangement. One of the ideas that we are working on is a ½ day PD, lunch and AGM at a very reasonable fee and possibly have the event webcasted for those interested.
So stay tuned and we regret having to cancel this longstanding event but it was prudent to do so.
